Painted in July 2025 and located in Melrose Car Park, Weston-super-Mare, Jodie designed this mural to bring together some of the local wildlife and history of the area.
🐟A sprat fish - they used to be fished around Weston-super-Mare
🐦‍⬛An oyster catcher bird - they're seen on the beach in the winter months
🫏 A donkey - on the beach still in the warmer months
🚤 A flatbed boat as seen in Weston Museum - they were used to fish around WSM due to the tidal range
🐳 A whale - cheating a little, but they feature in the water park right next to where the mural is!
This mural was created with funding and support from Weston Wallz's Scale Up Programme, which trains local artists in mural painting and provides materials and a final space for their first large scale mural. An incredible opportunity, Jodie was trained by Bex Glover and the mural was painted over 2 days during Weston Wallz, a town wide street art event in Weston-super-Mare. More information (and a short interview with Jodie) can be seen in the BBC Points West clip at the bottom of this page.
This mural was catalogued on ArtUK, it's page can be seen here.
